Edna Merle Odom, age 85 of Chipley went home to be with the Lord Wednesday night, October 1, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Edna was born October 28, 1928 in Chipley, Florida to the late Mance and Agnes ( Jones ) Sapp. She was a lifelong resident of the Chipley area and a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. Edna had been employed in the laundry department at Washington County Hospital and also volunteered with the Council on Aging of Chipley, Chipley Food Bank and the Red Cross. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Odom, one daughter, JoAnn Adams, one granddaughter, Dawn Tipper and two sisters, Ollie Mae Duncan and Blanche Jansenius. Survivors include, two sons, Ronnie Odom and wife Jean of Cottondale, Florida, Leonard Tipper of Cottondale, Florida, one daughter, Linda Shiver and husband James of Dothan, Alabama, one brother, Jack W. Sapp, five grandchildren, Randy Adams and wife Lynn, Renea Peters and husband Tony, Jason Shiver and wife April, Amanda Hampton and husband Eric, Duane Odom and friend Amanda Miller, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the New Prospect Baptist Church with Dr. Kermit P. Soileau and Reverend Steve Wegmann officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing.
