Eddie E. Hughes, Sr. age 88 of Chipley, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Eddie was born March 18, 1926 in Washington County to the late Barney B. and Ethel Mae (Costner) Hughes. He had returned to Washington County thirty years ago from Long Island, New York. Eddie was a WWII veteran having served with the U.S. Navy, in addition to his family, he loved motocycles and golf. Survivors include: two sons, Eddie E. Hughes, Jr. of Long Island, New York and Geoffrey A. Hughes of Edgewater, Fla.; three daughters, Kathleen Giaccone of Edgewater, Fla., Audrey Crutchfield of Kissimmee, Fla. and Cindy Diamoggio of Long Island, New York; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including a special Niece and caregiver, Rachel Reynolds of Chipley. Memorial services will be held at a later date
