Donald Joseph Barnes Sr., age 64 of Chipley, FL went home to be with the lord Monday night, April 20, 2015. He was born June 18, 1950 to the late Joseph O. Barnes and Yvonne (Mercer) Barnes in Wilson, NC. Don was a member of First Baptist Church of Chipley where he served as a Deacon and taught the three year old Sunday school class. He was a member of the Kiwanis of Chipley and worked at the local McDonalds and Wal-Mart for 16 years. Don was also an avid sports fan, he loved Florida State and the Atlanta Braves. Along with his mother survivors include, his loving wife, Martha Barnes of Chipley, FL, one son, Donald J. Barnes Jr. and wife Anita of Chipley, FL, one daughter, Michelle Barnes Crocker and husband Carlton of Black Creek, NC, two step sons, Tim Coy and wife Deanna of Ponce De Leon, FL, Brad Coy and wife Kim of Hope, IN, one step daughter, Kimberly Proffitt and husband Cris of Chipley, FL, two brothers, Charles Barnes and wife Marion of Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis Barnes of Columbus, GA, one sister, Belinda Barnes Finch of New Hope, FL, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Chipley with Reverend Mike Orr officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorialization will be by cremation. Flowers will be accepted but donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Chipley Building Fund, P.O. Box 643, Chipley, FL 32428.
