Charley Earnest Hicks, Sr., age 74 of Chipley, passed away Monday, June 14th, 2010 in the Northwest Florida Community Hospital. A native of Geneva, Alabama, he had been a resident of Chipley for the past 23 years, coming from West Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Hicks was a retired plaster worker, a member of the Bricklayers Union #1 and was of Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife of 51 years; Thora Lee Hicks of Chipley, two Sons; Carnelious Kelly of Virginia and Charley Hicks Jr. of Williston, Fla., one Daughter; Mary Earnestine Adams of Chipley, two Brothers; Dewey Hicks of Chipley and Hubert Hicks of Georgia, three Sisters: Clarenda Bowls of Southport, Fla., Tera White of Panama City, Florida and Flora Hicks of Graceville, Fla., eight Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18th, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road, with Harry Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Wachob-Forest Lawn Cemetery.
