Carolyn Rebecca Dekle Johnson
Mrs. Carolyn Rebecca Dekle Johnson of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, died peacefully at Taylor Mill Oaks, Elba, Alabama on November 27, 2010. She was 90 years of age. Brown Funeral Home, Chipley, Florida is in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, Chipley on the afternoon of November 29, 2010 at Two o'clock.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband , John Johnson, parents Tom and Helene Dekle, brothers and their wives, Neel and Edna Dekle, Tommy and Imogene Dekle; sisters and their husbands, Frances and Andrew Lauderback, Helene and Harry Richards.
She is survived by a sister Pat (Burkett) Howard, Enterprise, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews and their children.
Mrs. Johnson attended school in Chipley, Florida and attended college at FSCW (FSU). She taught two years in Washington County. She then moved to Los Angeles, California where she made her home for over 25 years. She retired from Civil Service in 1970.
After her husband's death, she moved back to Florida to live with her sister, Frances Lauderback, Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She was of the Baptist faith and was active for years in the First Baptist Church WMU, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, AARP, NARFE, Jacksonville Beach Women's Club and Jacksonville Beach Garden Club.
