Carie Coursey, age 73 of Westville, Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in Wiregrass Hospital, Geneva, Ala. Carie was born August 19, 1938 in Westville to the late Nita (Bass) and Anglin Coursey, Sr. He was a former truck driver, heavy equipment operator and was plant manager for L.D. Plante Company in Orlando for 32 years while living in Orlando. He was a member of the Leonia Baptist Church in Westville. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Arnie Coursey and Anglin Coursey, Jr. and a sister, Jeanne Bell Laird. Survivors include; his wife of 18 years, Betty (Stafford) Coursey of Westville; a son, Shane Coursey of Clinton, Arkansas; a daughter, Paula Chambers and husband Gene, grandchildren, Chad and Brittany, all of Atlanta; extended family; Chad A. Bryan of Atlanta, Ga., Mark and wife Carla Bryan and the grands, Colby, Makayla and Auston of Westville,; brothers and sisters, Loretta Spears of Westville, Juanita Crawford and husband Mark of Westville, Beatrice Retherford and husband Billy of Westville, Don Coursey and wife Janice of Westville, Carolyn Commander and husband Ernest of Westville, sister in law, Hilda Coursey DeFuniak Springs, Fla. as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.. The family will receive friends Friday evening October 7, 2011 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva. from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodd Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Hurricane Creek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are; Gene Commander, Dallas Moring, Gregg Laird, Hal Retherford, Jimmy Coursey and Chance Pitts. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
