Calvin Doyle Land, age 75, passed from this life Monday, September 1, 2014, at a family friend's home. He was born January 29, 1939, in Kynesville, Fl. to Virgil W. and Lucille (Brannon) Land. Calvin worked at a paper mill as a machine operator and has resided in Chipley for the past 15 years coming from Lynn Haven, Fl. He was a member of the New Orange Baptist Church. Calvin is preceded by his parents, and Gloria Land; one son: Steven Land; two sisters: Margie Guy and Mary Ellen Land. He is survived by six sons: Cameron Land and wife Penny of IL., Derek Land and wife Angela of FL., Kevin Land and wife Michelle of FL., Adam Land of FL., Shawn Land of FL., and David Whitfield and wife Becky of FL.; one daughter: Laurel Riley and husband Marty of FL.; and Peggy Land. One brother: Clyde Land and wife Carolyn of FL.; three sisters: Judy Wilson and husband Ken, Tina Tereschek and husband Nick, and Pat Rabon and husband J.W. all of FL., 9 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 4, 2014, at New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Pletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the services. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
