Bryant Holley passed away March 19, 2016, at home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Bryant was born in Chipley, Florida March 1, 1943.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Hayes Holley, one daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Brian Moore, one son and wife, Jason and Tosha Holley. Seven wonderful grandchildren, Hannah and Lindsay Moore, Austin, Railey and Carter Holley, and Chelsea and Ciara McEntyre, one sister Gynelle Mashburn, sisters in law, Mary Holley and Betty Holley, brothers in law, Lawrence Cutts, Larry and wife, Marla Hayes, Dennis and wife, Marsha Hayes, Daryle and wife Judy Hayes.
Bryant was preceded in death by his parents Simon and Ada Holley, brothers, Lowell, S. T., Jack and Donald Gene Holley, one sister Eloise Cutts.
Bryant entered the Navy in 1963 and retired in 1984 as a Chief Petty Officer. He served on 5 ships and instructor of damage control and fire fighting schools in Charleston, South Carolina. In the 12 years of sea duty he sailed the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Baltic Sea, Dead Sea, North Atlantic and the Mediterranean and two tours serving on a sea-going tug off Vietnam. His ships were docked in ports around the world, confirming to him this is the best country in the world.
He was a Civil Service employee at Eglin Air Force Base, Site C Six Space Command and retired after 24 years to be a full time Papa.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida. Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior, and interment will follow at New Orange Baptist Cemetery in Chipley, Florida with Brown Funeral Home directing.
