Brenda Joy Monk, age 56 of Chipley, died Wednesday July 29th,2009 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan. A native of Glenn St. Mary, Florida, she had been a resident of Chipley for the past 15 years coming from Hamilton, Florida. She was a sewing machine operator and was of Baptist Faith. Everyone who came in contact with her, loved her for who she was. You never saw her without a smile on her face. She had a wonderful ability to find the good in any bad situation. She will always be remembered as a shining light of good and happiness. Throughout her life, she truly lived up to her name. She was a "Joy" to the world. She is predeceased by a Son: James Gregory Johnson. Survivors include her Husband; Jack Monk of Chipley, One Son: Donald Johnson of Stockbridge, Ga., three Daughters: Theresa Johnson of Chipley, Nancy Johnson of Star City, Ark. and Sylvia Tanner of Jasper, Florida, One Brother; John Henry Merritt Jr. of Lake Park, Ga. Seven Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. The family will receive friends Friday evening 5 to 7 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 1st, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel with the Rev. Timmy Dykes officiating. Interment will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
