Billy Joe Pettis (Msg. U.S Army Ret.), age 72 of Bonifay, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at his home. Mr. Pettis was born April 26, 1939 in Bonifay to the late, George W. and Illa (Thompson) Pettis. He was a Vietnam veteran and had retired from the U. S. Army as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. Survivors include; his wife, Delena Pettis of Bonifay; three sons, Billy Ray Pettis of Spring Hope, N.C., James Michael Pettis and wife Becky of Grapevine, Texas, Lester Merrell Pettis and wife Susan of Creedmoor, N.C.; one sister, Idell Hatcher of Blythewood, S.C.; nine grandchildren and one great grandson. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, September 27, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley with full military honors.
