Billie J. Laws, age 75 of Vernon, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 in Valparaiso. Ms. Laws was born October 18, 1935 in Washington County to the late Calvin and Nettie Rhodes Creamer and had been a resident of Washington County her entire life. She was a homemaker and member of the Live Oak Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Willie Earl Carnley; two brothers, Barney Creamer and Woodrow Creamer and a sister, Bonnie Bodiford. Survivors include a son, David Carnley of Valparaiso; a daughter, Barbara Jean Sims of Albertville, Alabama; a sister, Lula Merle Osment of Vernon, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Main Street, with the Rev. Randy Howell and Rev. Leon Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethany Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Hinson Cross Roads.
