Betty Pate Gilbert, age 84 of Chipley, passed away Monday, November 1st, 2010 in the Northwest Florida Community Hospital. Born June 10th, 1926 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late, Thomas Watson and Claudia (Mathis) Wynn, Mrs. Gilbert had been a resident of Chipley for the past 54 years, coming from Panama City, Florida. She was a homemaker and member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley. Survivors include her Husband; Jackson J. (J.J.) Gilbert of Chipley, two Daughters; Patti Pate McNamara of Tallahassee and Susan Pate Clark and Husband Allen of Chipley, two Step-Daughters; Susan Gooding Kelly of Atlanta, Georgia and Betsy Gilbert of Guadalajara, Mexico, and seven Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel with the Rev. Jerry May officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will at 2:00 P.M. in the Pope Cemetery in Sneads, Florida. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
