Obituary

Bernice F. Matuzas, age 94 of Sunny Hills, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2011. Bernice was of Lithuanian descent and was born May 14, 1916 in Chicago. She, along with her late husband, Mecislaus were restaurant owners in Geneva N.Y., first of Clark's Diner and then the well-known Pumpernickel Restaurant. She was a dedicated volunteer, serving as a "Pink Lady" both in Geneva, N.Y. and in Chipley, Fla., She served in the choir and numerous other roles at St.Theresa's Catholic Church in Sunny Hills. Survivors include; two daughters, Diane Vitale and husband Dennis of Sunny Hills, and Mary Gene Smith and husband William of Panama City, two grandchildren, Jessica Markham and Michael Markham, three great grandchildren, Morgan Keene, Isaiah Markham and Maddox Markham. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Sunny Hills. Visitation one hour prior to services at the church. . Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements. Friends and family may sign the online register at www.brownfh.net.
