IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Harrington
Waddell
February 25, 1943 – October 13, 2022
Barbara Harrington Waddell was called home by the Lord on October 13, 2022. She passed while surrounded by her loving family that will miss her dearly.Barbara was born in Quincy, Florida on February 25, 1943 to Isaac and Catherine Harrington. She lived in Chipley most of her life. Barbara had two children, Billy and Barbie, that were her pride and joy.
Throughout the years, she held many jobs. She worked at Washington-Holmes Vocational School and Washington County Clerk's office. She also owned and operated a shop called Papa and Granny's Crafts and Collectables. Barbara enjoyed crafting and sharing her passion with her loyal customers. While she loved each of these jobs, she would always say that her favorite job was being "Mama."
She had a particular interest in family history. She spent many years researching genealogy and learning the history of her family. She also had a passion for sewing. Whether it was sewing her own wedding dress or making items for her children and grandchildren, Barbara loved to be at her sewing machine.
Her greatest love, though, was her family. When you talked with her, there was never any doubt of that. She had a special way of making you feel like you were the most important and loved person in the world. It was her life's goal to be a mother, and she was the best one. The title of Mama later turned into Granny, a name she loved just as much.
Everyone who was blessed enough to know her knew just how special she was. She was happiest when she was doting on and spending time with her family and friends. She was a God-fearing Christian who spread light everywhere she went. She loved her church family at First Baptist Chipley.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine McCrary. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Greer Waddell of Chipley; daughter, Barbie Pettis of Chipley; grandchildren, Ashley Lovering (Brandon) of Chipley, Amber Peel (Colby) of Chipley, Trey Waddell (Faithe) of Virginia, Savannah Baxter (John) of Chipley, Tyler Pettis (Lauren) of Tallahassee; great-grandchildren, Mayson Lovering, Kinleigh Peel, Carson Peel, Grayson Lovering, Hudson Lovering, and Abby Baxter; special nephew Rodney Pittman (Michelle); siblings Wanda Freeman (David), Garvin McCrary (Margaret), Kirby McCrary (Robin), Turhan McCrary(Debbie), and Phyllis Dominigue (Jimmy); along with many nieces and nephews.
