Ara Essie Carter, age 92 of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Pikeville. Ara was born March 12, 1920 in Noma, Florida, to the late Angus and Mary (Woodham) Miller. A former resident of Chipley, she was a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Willie J. Carter, two brothers, Bobby and Doris Miller, two sisters, Sybil Strickland and Mary Roughton. Survivors include; two daughters, Anita Weems and husband Jerry of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Romaine Keith and husband Sam of Pikeville, Ky.; one brother, Billy Miller of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Lou Kay Carter of Columbus, Ga.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the graveside in Slocomb City Cemetery in Slocomb, Alabama with the Rev. Greg Weems officiating.
